Along the I-65 and US 43 lies the small community of Satsuma. Named after the acres of satsuma orange trees that were grown in the area, the city was originally called Fig Tree Island. It was renamed Satsuma in 1959 when the municipality was established.
Satsuma is located in Mobile County, Alabama, between the cities of Saraland and Creola. The town of nearly 6, 200 residents is just a 20-minute drive from Mobile, the port city of Alabama’s Gulf Coast.

In line with their motto of “Tradition. Vision. Innovation.” the school district hands out scholarships and grants to qualified students.
